You've been holding it all alone. Now someone holds it with you.
You didn't sign up to run everything alone. We give you a team of your own: a case manager who is really there, a budgeting coach, an accountant, a debt expert, a therapist, a time management coach, and help finding better work. We stay until you're on sturdier ground.
A beta of twenty,in Chicago.
Collective Kindness has helped single mothers for years, one family at a time. Project Nurture is the first program we have built only for them.
The first run is a beta: thirty mothers, twenty-three in Chicago and seven out of town, together for a year, so we can perfect the offering before it opens in other cities.
It is a cohort, not a caseload. Events through the year, the camaraderie of women in the same place, and one set goal at the end: more independent than the day you started.
Your team, and what they actually do.
People dedicated to your unique situation, who know your file and pick up the phone.
Case manager
There for you every step of the way. Weekly calls, and the panicked ones in between. She coordinates everyone below.
Accountant
Files your taxes, catches back filings, and claims every refund and benefit you qualify for.
Budgeter
Builds the budget with you, line by line, realistic about Shabbos, tuition and one income, until it holds.
Benefits and insurance expert
Opens the accounts. Sorts life and health insurance. Gets you every benefit you qualify for.
Debt expert
Through Kosher Debt Help: a payment plan you can actually keep, and a plan to stay out.
Career support
Resume, interviews, introductions. Side income that fits around Shabbos and the kids.
Time management coach
Systems for when there is no time.
Therapist
Covered, for you and the kids, through our provider network, for as long as the year needs it.
Legal navigation
Court dates and paperwork, with our lead counsel and volunteer lawyers. Not a law firm. Someone who knows the way.
We do notthrow money at you.
No cash handouts. No paying off debt without a plan. No support without your participation. We are not here to carry you. We are here to make sure you never need us again.
And a room full of womenin the same place.
On top of the one-on-one work, the whole cohort meets six evenings a year. Dinner is on us. So is the babysitter. Each evening is co-led by a Mentor Mom who has stood where you are standing.
Where You Stand
Income, expenses, debt, benefits you didn't know you had.
Stretching Every Dollar
Groceries, clothing, subsidies. A beautiful Shabbos on a real budget.
Protecting Your Family
Insurance, emergency fund, the legal basics.
Earning More
Your skills, your options, your resume, your next move.
Time and Sanity
Systems that work. Boundaries that hold. Burnout caught early.
Your Future
Credit, debt payoff, savings, retirement. A one-year plan and a five-year plan.
Graduate.Then you lead.
Graduates come back as Mentor Moms for the next cohort. Some are paid to facilitate. The women we serve become the women who serve.
The questionseveryone asks.
Is it confidential?
Completely.
Do I need a referral?
No. It helps. Apply either way.
I'm not religious. Is this for me?
Yes.
What about my kids?
Childcare at every event.
Why only 30?
Because we'd rather change 30 lives than dent 90.
Applications are openfor Chicago.
Thirty mothers start their year in Chicago. One spot can be yours. If you are divorced or getting divorced and you want a real plan and a team that stays, this is for you. Any level of observance. There is no cost.
Put someonein her corner.
Your gift gives one mother a year that ends on her own two feet. Sponsor one mother for the year, fund a whole cohort, or bring the program to your city. Every dollar goes into the program itself. None of it is handed out as cash.
